UHS entered the Reno-Sparks area in 1980 when it purchased a controlling interest in Sparks Family Hospital. Three years later, UHS completed the construction of a new acute care hospital: Northern Nevada Medical Center. It was the first hospital built by UHS and the first hospital in the area in 40 years. Nurses at Northern Nevada Medical Center enjoy an environment that’s dedicated to providing quality, compassionate care to our patients.
The nurses at Northern Nevada Medical Center uphold our commitment to excellence by providing compassionate care to our patients. Hear why Jessica Rios, RN, chose a nursing career at Northern Nevada Medical Center:
“I am a fourth-generation Nevadan and grew up in Sparks," says Jessica. “I wanted to make sure I chose a hospital that served my community. I have been at NNMC for five years and it has greatly exceeded my expectations. I feel greatly fulfilled and loyal to NNMC.
Nursing runs through my veins and has been passed down by generation.
"Every day I learn something new and I am able to raise the bar and go above and beyond the standard. This allows me to give exceptional patient care and makes me feel greatly satisfied with my career path.
"I love that NNMC serves our community. NNMC offers ever-evolving services, rises above the standard to earn certifications and offers the highest level of care within their specialties. NNMC encompasses an amazing team and every day I feel very lucky to work with such a great group of people.
"Our administration is visible and always welcomes input and change that would improve our patient and staff experience. Our managers and house supervisors share their expertise and support us so that we can work to our full potential.”
