All topics are designed to be delivered as one-hour presentations but can be tailored to fit your available schedule. If you are able to accommodate more than one hour, we can cover multiple topics or provide a more in-depth look into a particular topic.
Our educational topics include:
CV Writing and Formatting
Drafting a CV is one of the first steps in preparing for your job search. Your CV offers a first impression to potential employers, so content, organization and formatting are essential! We can help ensure your CV stands out. We offer a training session on CV writing and a one-on-one CV review.
Contract Negotiation and Employment Models
Most residents and fellows have many questions when it comes to contracts. During this presentation we explore three different employment models, review and define many components and sections of an employment contract, discuss negotiating strategies and review how malpractice insurance works and what to look for. Our goal is to help residents and fellows gain confidence during the negotiation process by being well-prepared and knowledgeable about the many aspects of employment contracts.
Interview Techniques: How to Land Your Dream Job
Most people get nervous before interviewing. Don’t fret! We guide you through the entire interview process and provide tips and strategies for every step along the way. From phone to on-site interviews, in-state and out-of-state, we provide the tools to maximize your interview experience and help you land your dream job.
The Onboarding Process at a Glance: What to Expect with Licensure and Credentialing
Not sure what happens once you accept a job offer and sign a contract? We review the onboarding process and discuss tips to completing paperwork, applying for your medical license and other key aspects of the process, so you are prepared to begin your new job on time!
Career Planning 101: Preparing for Your First Job
This comprehensive overview touches on CV writing, interview techniques, contracts, onboarding and more to provide a career planning timeline. Career Planning 101 is perfect for programs that have a block of time available, preferably two to three hours, so we can spend additional time on specific content of interest. Key takeaway: start the career planning process early and be prepared!
Healthcare Employment Trends: What’s Happening in the Job Market Today
We take a deep dive into the current trends in the healthcare job market by examining statistics, salary data, practice settings and other important aspects of the current job market to help you build confidence in making educated career decisions. We also discuss job search strategies and how to choose the best options for your needs. Key takeaway: everyone is different and finding your best fit is the ultimate goal!
Finances: Making Sense of Your Financial Future
We receive many questions about finances and financial planning strategies. This session introduces you to key concepts in financial planning. We discuss budgeting, risk management, preparing for retirement, investment strategies and, of course, managing student loan debt. Most importantly, we review financial mistakes to avoid when coming out of training.
