Universal Health Services, Inc. partners with AARP Foundation in national workforce initiative to promote hiring of mature workers

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA --- On February 28, 2005 Universal Health Services, Inc. (NYSE: UHS), one of the nation's largest hospital management companies, will participate in the launch of a new national AARP Foundation Workforce Initiative Program in which selected "Featured Employers" will partner with AARP to match qualified mature workers with employment opportunities. UHS is the first hospital management company to endorse this Workforce Initiative.

The Featured Employers program includes 13 nationally-recognized U.S. companies who have been chosen by AARP as forward-looking companies that have demonstrated a commitment to recruiting and retaining the over-50 workforce. The Workforce Initiative will take action to improve services and increase training opportunities for the 50+ worker to acquire new skills or to re-enter the workforce.

UHS has always recognized the value of a diverse workforce, including diversity of age. Company Chairman, CEO and President Alan B. The launch of the AARP Foundation Workforce Initiative Program on February 28 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. will include a roundtable discussion with executives from each of the Workforce Initiative companies, moderated by Jeff Garten, Dean of the Yale School of Management. O. Edwin French, UHS Senior Vice President and President, Acute Care Division, and Eileen Bove, Assistant Vice President and Director, Human Resources, will attend the launch event, with Mr. French participating in the roundtable.
