The survey, conducted by Hay Group, started with approximately 1,400 companies: the Fortune 1,000; the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue; non-U.S. companies in Fortune's Global 500 database with revenue of $10 billion or more; and the top foreign companies operating in the United States. UHS is included among the 350 Most Admired companies. The company ranked #2 in the healthcare industry.

Debra K. Osteen, UHS Senior Vice President and President, UHS Behavioral Health Division, has been named as one of the "Top 25 Women in Healthcare" in 2013 by Modern Healthcare magazine. This is the fourth time Ms. Osteen received this prestigious distinction; she was named for the first time in 2007 and again in 2011 and 2013.
